Sewer Line Replacement in Riverside & Avondale
At a home in Riverside & Avondale, the sewer line on the JEA side sloped the wrong way and was holding water. We dug it out, replaced it with new PVC pipe, added cleanouts and backfilled the trench.

The problem
The sewer line at this Riverside & Avondale home was back-pitched on the JEA side, the section running toward the street. That means the pipe sloped the wrong way, so wastewater sat in the line instead of draining out. A sewer camera inspection showed water sitting along the bottom of the pipe.
What we did
We dug a trench beside the front walkway, from the house foundation toward the street. When we cut into the old pipe, the hole filled with water, and tree roots had grown in around the pipe.
We laid new green PVC sewer pipe along the bottom of the trench and checked it with a level as we went. Then we tied the new line into the existing pipe with a new fitting among the roots. We also installed cleanout risers on the new line.
The result
The new PVC sewer line runs from the house out into the yard, with cleanouts in place. We backfilled the trench along the walkway and left a capped cleanout in the front yard near the walkway, which gives access to the line for future service.
